CamSF Tutor Team:

Julie Atrill

As Cambourne VC opens its doors to sixth form students for the first time, I am thrilled to be a part of the sixth form academic tutor team. Having worked with sixth formers in my previous school, I am frequently inspired and amazed by the motivation and determination young people show as they start to develop into the adults they are destined to become. My background and training are in science and engineering. I loved working in this area so much that after my degree, I stayed at university to complete a PhD in applied chemistry. Following this, I spent almost 10 years working in Research and Development. During my time in industry, I found that my love for maths was something I wanted to share with others. This passion led me to a second career in teaching maths, where I strive to inspire others to love algebra as much as I do!

Outside of teaching, my weekends and holidays are often spent going for long walks in the countryside with my family, especially if there's a cafe involved for tea and cake along the way. While Cambridgeshire might not be the most scenic, we often head to other more picturesque areas of the country when we get the chance. When the weather isn’t suitable for walking, I turn to baking. I enjoy experimenting with new baking skills and ingredients to create delicious bread and cakes. My family is always more than willing to taste the results of my baking experiments!

I look forward to supporting and guiding our sixth form students at Cambourne VC, helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Pauline Courtois

As Head of Design and Technology , I am passionate about creativity in all its forms. In my spare time, family and friends are my priority as well as sharing good food. I love learning new things such as pottery, baking bread, and restoring furniture. Being a sixth form tutor allows me to connect with students and inspire them toward bright futures. I hope my own journey—having grown up in France and worked as a shoe designer before becoming a teacher—encourages my students to embrace unique paths.

Hello! I'm a Psychology and Sociology teacher. I have experience teaching Sixth Form students and have supported many with their university applications. I am therefore excited to help guide students through this transitional time in their lives and onwards to the next stage. Having specialised in Psychology, I have an in-depth understanding of the mental health struggles experienced by young people. I therefore aspire to provide excellent pastoral care to students to help them thrive. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading and watching football.

Vanessa Olsen-Dry

I specialise in Computer Science, focusing on the intriguing fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, including Artificial Neural Networks, Natural Language Processing, and Autonomous Systems and Robotics. These subjects captivate me, and I strive to bring that same fascination to my students. I enjoy working with programming languages like R and Julia, which I use for various data analysis and projects.

Outside of my professional life, I love to immerse myself in programming, constantly pushing the boundaries of what I can create and analyse. I also have a passion for playing Go, a board game that challenges my strategic thinking. Music is another significant part of my life. I play the clarinet, which allows me to express myself creatively and unwind. When I’m not programming or making music, I enjoy reading. Douglas Hofstadter is my favourite author, and his works often inspire me with their exploration of consciousness and philosophy. Spending time with family and friends is essential to me. I believe that maintaining strong personal relationships is crucial for a balanced and fulfilling life.

I chose the role of Sixth Form Academic Tutor because I deeply understand the importance of pastoral support in academic development. I believe that students’ well-being is fundamental to helping them achieve their best academic outcomes. As a member of the British Psychological Society, I bring a wealth of pastoral experience from working with a diverse range of students in various Sixth Form settings. My goal is to provide holistic support, ensuring that each student receives the care and guidance they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Warren Patrick

As one of the last original teachers who were present when Cambourne Village College opened its doors 11 years ago, I’m incredibly excited and privileged to be part of the sixth Form Academic Tutor Team as is welcomes it’s first cohort. I firmly believe the role of tutor is an incredibly important one, never more so in the Sixth Form as students continue their academic studies and decide where their respective futures lie.

I'm a passionate teacher of mathematics as it helps students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential in everyday life and various careers. Mathematics also forms the foundation for understanding the world, fostering logical reasoning and analytical abilities. All skills that enable students to tackle complex challenges, build confidence, and open doors to numerous opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and beyond.

In my spare time, I love a city break with Mrs Patrick. As a self-professed coffee aficionado, I’m particularly looking forward to exploring Trieste, the coffee capital of Italy! When I'm not travelling, you can find me building Lego sets, indulging in the precision and imagination they require. Another passion of mine is riding my Ducati Scrambler motorbike, where the thrill of the open road with the wind in my face complements my explorative spirit!

Sujana Sudhaman

I have been at Cambourne Village College for eight years and am delighted to be part of the new sixth form as a tutor. Before moving to Cambridge I worked at a large school in west London where I was a sixth form tutor. I really enjoyed having the role and helping to support students with their academic studies and personal development into young adults. I am mainly an English teacher but have also previously taught A Level Politics. I enjoy teaching English as it develops both analysis and creativity. I also love teaching Politics as it enables us to understand the world that we live in and how we can shape it. In my spare time I like to read, cook and travel. I love exploring new cities as well as hiking and swimming in new places.
