As one of the last original teachers who were present when Cambourne Village College opened its doors 11 years ago, I’m incredibly excited and privileged to be part of the Sixth Form Academic Tutor Team as is welcomes it’s first cohort. I firmly believe the role of tutor is an incredibly important one, never more so in the Sixth Form as students continue their academic studies and decide where their respective futures lie.
I'm a passionate teacher of mathematics as it helps students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential in everyday life and various careers. Mathematics also forms the foundation for understanding the world, fostering logical reasoning and analytical abilities. All skills that enable students to tackle complex challenges, build confidence, and open doors to numerous opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and beyond.
In my spare time, I love a city break with Mrs Patrick. As a self-professed coffee aficionado, I’m particularly looking forward to exploring Trieste, the coffee capital of Italy! When I'm not travelling, you can find me building Lego sets, indulging in the precision and imagination they require. Another passion of mine is riding my Ducati Scrambler motorbike, where the thrill of the open road with the wind in my face complements my explorative spirit!
I have been at Cambourne Village College for eight years and am delighted to be part of the new sixth form as a tutor. Before moving to Cambridge, I worked at a large school in west London where I was a sixth form tutor. I really enjoyed having the role and helping to support students with their academic studies and personal development into young adults. I am mainly an English teacher but have also previously taught A Level Politics. I enjoy teaching English as it develops both analysis and creativity. I also love teaching Politics as it enables us to understand the world that we live in and how we can shape it. In my spare time I like to read, cook and travel. I love exploring new cities as well as hiking and swimming in new places.
As Cambourne SF opens its doors to sixth form students for the first time, I am thrilled to be a part of the sixth form academic tutor team. Having worked with sixth formers in my previous school, I am frequently inspired and amazed by the motivation and determination young people show as they start to develop into the adults they are destined to become. My background and training are in science and engineering. I loved working in this area so much that after my degree, I stayed at university to complete a PhD in applied chemistry. Following this, I spent almost 10 years working in Research and Development. During my time in industry, I found that my love for maths was something I wanted to share with others. This passion led me to a second career in teaching maths, where I strive to inspire others to love algebra as much as I do!
Outside of teaching, my weekends and holidays are often spent going for long walks in the countryside with my family, especially if there's a cafe involved for tea and cake along the way. While Cambridgeshire might not be the most scenic, we often head to other more picturesque areas of the country when we get the chance. When the weather isn’t suitable for walking, I turn to baking. I enjoy experimenting with new baking skills and ingredients to create delicious bread and cakes. My family is always more than willing to taste the results of my baking experiments!
I look forward to supporting and guiding our sixth form students at Cambourne SF, helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
As Head of Design and Technology , I am passionate about creativity in all its forms. In my spare time, family and friends are my priority as well as sharing good food. I love learning new things such as pottery, baking bread, and restoring furniture. Being a sixth form tutor allows me to connect with students and inspire them toward bright futures. I hope my own journey—having grown up in France and worked as a shoe designer before becoming a teacher—encourages my students to embrace unique paths.
Hello! I'm a Psychology and Sociology teacher. I have experience teaching Sixth Form students and have supported many with their university applications. I am therefore excited to help guide students through this transitional time in their lives and onwards to the next stage. Having specialised in Psychology, I have an in-depth understanding of the mental health struggles experienced by young people. I therefore aspire to provide excellent pastoral care to students to help them thrive. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading and watching football.
I specialise in Computer Science, focusing on the intriguing fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, including Artificial Neural Networks, Natural Language Processing, and Autonomous Systems and Robotics. These subjects captivate me, and I strive to bring that same fascination to my students. I enjoy working with programming languages like R and Julia, which I use for various data analysis and projects.
Outside of my professional life, I love to immerse myself in programming, constantly pushing the boundaries of what I can create and analyse. I also have a passion for playing Go, a board game that challenges my strategic thinking. Music is another significant part of my life. I play the clarinet, which allows me to express myself creatively and unwind. When I’m not programming or making music, I enjoy reading. Douglas Hofstadter is my favourite author, and his works often inspire me with their exploration of consciousness and philosophy. Spending time with family and friends is essential to me. I believe that maintaining strong personal relationships is crucial for a balanced and fulfilling life.
I chose the role of Sixth Form Academic Tutor because I deeply understand the importance of pastoral support in academic development. I believe that students’ well-being is fundamental to helping them achieve their best academic outcomes. As a member of the British Psychological Society, I bring a wealth of pastoral experience from working with a diverse range of students in various Sixth Form settings. My goal is to provide holistic support, ensuring that each student receives the care and guidance they need to thrive both academically and personally.
Welcome! I joined Cambourne Village College just over a year ago after 15 years of teaching in Hertfordshire. I am Second in Charge of the PE Department and have extensive experience teaching PE and Sport Post-16. My background includes teaching in traditional school settings as well as delivering educational courses at a Pro Performance Football Academy. I have taught both A Level and BTEC courses, and I am excited to continue this work as part of the growing Cambourne Sixth Form.
I am delighted to take on the role of Sixth Form Tutor and look forward to supporting my tutees in their studies and helping them plan their next steps, whichever pathway they choose to follow.
Sport is my passion both inside and outside of College life. In my younger days, I was a keen footballer and played in goal for Tottenham Hotspur. These days, you’ll most likely find me on the local tennis courts, where I serve as Ladies’ Captain for Cambourne LTC.
I began teaching English in 2013 and, over the course of my teaching career, I have taught in three different schools and three different subjects. Whilst English is the subject I have taught most consistently and the one that I teach in the lower school, Politics is my first love and my degree background and the subject I have been itching to teach at Sixth Form level since I began my career at Cambourne in 2019. I am so excited to share this passion with the motivated and engaged politics students of Cambourne Sixth Form!
As a Sixth Form Tutor, I am keen to bring my inclusive, supportive and aspirational approach to supporting young people to achieve their goals, and being a powerful advocate for my tutees.
Outside of teaching, I love to spend my free time with my young family and friends, visiting places of interest, being creative and learning new skills. I love to read, to travel to new places and of course, to try to keep abreast of current affairs.
I have been at Cambourne Village College for three years and I am very excited to join the Sixth Form tutor team! As well as teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4, which I have done for eight years, I am Head of Media Studies at GCSE and A Level. I have a real passion for empowering students to fully understand and question the messages they are seeing every day in the media, as well as helping them appreciate the power of literature in society as well as our own lives. I care deeply about supporting every one of my students to achieve success, whatever that looks like for them.
When I am not teaching, I love to read, bake and spend time with my friends and family. My new puppy, a Cavapoo called Zuko, takes up a lot of my time and I love live music - rock concerts are one of the places I'm happiest!
Having joined Cambourne Village College in 2022, I'm incredibly excited to be part of the Sixth Form Academic Tutor Team. Sixth Form is an exciting time as students continue their academic studies, develop independence, and start shaping their future. I feel privileged to help students on their journey towards achieving these goals.
I'm a passionate Teaher of Music, Music Technology and Sociology. These subjects play a vital role in developing students' creativity, self-expression, and understanding of the world around them.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing (very) amateur tennis, playing various instruments and the ver rock 'n' roll hobby of birdwatching!
