At least a 4 in PE if taken at GCSE; At least a Pass in Sport if taken at BTEC Level 2

Why study BTEC Sport?

If you are interested in the sports and exercise industry then you should look no further than this course. It will set you up with the knowledge, skills and understanding of how to go far in the sports industry. 

Where can it lead?

This course is aimed at students who have a passion for sport and are looking to follow a career in sports performance, coaching/teaching, officiating, journalism or medicine.
This course can lead on to a range of sports related jobs direct from school, but can also earn UCAS points allowing students to continue their studies at university.

BTEC Sport Extras

The PE Department will offer a range of visits to sports facilities and opportunities to participate in a range fo sports and a spectator or participant! There will also be leadership and coaching opportunities across our Trust in both primary and secondary education phases. 

Course Content

The BTEC Sport Level 3 course is designed for those learners who have an interest and passion for sport and PE. A combination of assessment methods are used across the range of units to develop students' confidence in their own ability to apply knowledge in order to succeed in the workplace, or to progress to higher education. Within the course, there are specialist units, providing the learner with more in depth understanding of specific areas within the sports industry. 


The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport covers 18 units over two years. In the first year of this course, you will study a range of topics including Anatomy & Physiology; Fitness Training and Programming; Sports Leadership; Fitness Testing. As part of our full-time study programme, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and complete a range of subject related courses and qualifications aimed at supporting your future career.
